TO HELP THE STUDENTS IN ACQUIRING SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE AS WELL AS THE DEVELOPMENT OF THEIR MENTAL, PHYSICAL ABILITY TO ACHIEVE THE BEST IN SPHERE OF LIFE.
The school has been operating before 1990 led by Mrs. Sulaiman A. Mariam, the pupils used to be taken from their various homes to a bastion where learning took place. In 1991, the citadel of learning where pupils have been taken to, to acquire knowledge was formally pronounced as a school. Then, the school was started with four pupils under a mango tree. At first, the school was named “Friendship Schools” because there was a friend that partnered with my wife in order to establish a dreamed school but she abandoned her with the school due to difficulties and tough time (faced) at that period of debtors arise which later resulted to desolation of partnership. In those days, pupils were to paying 50kobo monthly yet some parents wouldn’t pay on time, sometime then school realized bad debt at the end of the term due to some parents that decided to run away with school fees. This made it so difficult and boring. As time flies, my husband, in person of Mr. Sulaiman Okanlawon agreed to join me in year 2001. As we concluded to work together, he became the director automatically and manages the school absolutely then we decided to change the school name from what it was to “SOMAR NURSERY AND PRIMARY SCHOOL”. The name was coined from Sulaiman Okanlawon Raheem my husband’s name and Mariam Asabi (wife). The school name called SOMAR when it was finally got approval from Ministry of Education, Alausa in year 2008. Today, we are expressing high degrees of gratitude to Almighty God for keeping and given us a breakthrough at the end of the journey. Almighty God has elevated us from nothing to something, grass to grace because He promised inestimable rewards for the righteous as in Qur’an 64vs9 said; “save those who believe and do righteous deeds. They shall have a reward without end (paradise)”. We are very contented with what Allah has done in the life of my husband and I. All thanks to God
